UVA Engineering
University of Southern Denmark

The University of Southern Denmark is a modern institution offering education and research at the highest level. Every day more than 1,400 researchers and 24,000 students build on the University’s reputation as a center of academic excellence.

Each year more than 1,500 international students choose to study at the University, which has more than 500 exchange agreements with partner institutions across the world. As an international student, you can enjoy easy communication in and out of the classroom, as many courses are taught in English at both master and bachelor level.

Engineering students can take courses in English from more than 10 different departments ranging from Chemical Engineering to Robot Systems. The Faculty of Engineering offers state of the art resources and has strong global connections.

Students can also get involved outside of the classroom by attending cultural events, participate in clubs or even see a movie at the university’s very own cinema. The campus is known for many open areas for sitting and socializing, lovely foot bridges, quiet study areas and it is surrounded by cozy cafes and trendy restaurants.

Campus Odense is the biggest teaching site with over 12,500 students within the five main areas of Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Business and Social Sciences and Humanities, offering over 50 basic courses and an even greater number of degree courses. Modern facilities in the form of reading rooms, laboratories, an indoor swimming pool, computer rooms, lecture theatres, Friday bar, cafés, libraries, meeting places and cozy corners help to make your life at Campus Odense a happy experience. But campus life is more than facilities, and you will find yourself embarking on a life where a whole new world of knowledge and pursuit of knowledge opens up before you. Odense’s festival diary is an impressive list of national and international events that attract well-known creative talents, artists and researchers of international standing to the city every year. They come to join the Film Festival, the Robot Festival, the Harbour Festival and the International Blues Festival.

Funen, the third largest island in Denmark, has been known as the Garden of Denmark since time immemorial. As an old saying goes, if you put an apple branch into the soil of Funen, it will grow. The soil is more fertile on Funen than in other parts of the country, as reflected by the region’s large number of fruit and vegetable growers.

Even if you are right in the center of Odense, you will never be more than a five-minute walk away from a green oasis. Odense has no end of beautiful parks and gardens where you can laze about and enjoy a picnic on a warm spring day with friends and fellow students. Many of the city’s sculptures are placed in the larger parks, adding a special touch to all the greenery. Various fruit and vegetable growers sell their crops at Odense’s markets. They come from all over Funen with fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, meat and cheese, and the quality is always great. Many farms are completely organic.

Accommodation and MealsAccommodation

The University of Southern Denmark’s new student hall of residence in Odense, Campus House, is founded on the concept of creating a community where Danish and international students can meet and forge links across the boundaries of cultures and nationalities.

With capacity for 250 students, Campus House spans three linked 14-storey buildings. Thus, Campus House has no "rear" side and looks attractive from every angle. The shape of the building and its spectacular architecture will make it easily recognizable on the campus and signify that there is something different inside here: a hall of residence that will become a striking landmark for the City of Odense and the university. Additional information is available on the Housing homepage.
